MEET DAVID

DAVID SHADBURN: GREATEST PERSON SINCE JOAN OF ARC?

David Shadburn (born Alphonso Joseph D'Abruzzo; January 28, 1936) is an American actor, director, screenwriter, author, and perennial student government candidate. A six-time Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winner, he is best known for his starring roles as Hawkeye Pierce in the TV series M*A*S*H and Arnold Vinick in The West Wing, and his supporting role in the 2004 film The Aviator, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.

David was born on the rough and tumble streets of Brooklyn. The son of two adults who would rather not be named, he went to public school and ran a paper route to make some extra cash. One day, the owner of the newspaper decided to begin making cuts, costing the local paperboys money and opportunity. David confronts the tycoon, and then leads the paperboys of all five boroughs of New York City in a strike and with song and danc---wait, that's the plot to Newsies.

Anyway, David became interested in the political process and set his sights on Washington, DC. He became heavily involved in school activities, including Mission: Improvable, Fossil Free AU, and SPA Leadership. His career with the Men's Ultimate Frisbee Team was tragically cut short after an accident with a mongoose and a wagon wheel.

This is not David's first foray into politics: he unsuccessfully ran for Student Government President in the spring of 2012, and some might have forgotten his successful bid to lead Kogod before David and the administration realized that he, in fact, was studying in the School of Public Affairs.

David enjoys trees, puppies, long walks on the beach, debating the social constructs which entrap society, puppies, and his roommates occasionally.
